Joy Success Stories

We bring joy to our clients

Though we focus on health and safety first, we have found that our unique “joy approach” makes a significant impact on emotional health and wellbeing. It could be as simple as getting someone outside for fresh air daily, having favorite meals prepared or a special outing or activity coordinated.

As clients age, health issues arise and their worlds shrink we are committed to searching for what brings them joy and purpose in new ways. These simple joys are life-changing, and we see the results.

What Our Clients Say

“The unbelievable care my mother receives from Tara from Traditions Home Health has given both of us our lives back”

Lauren S. Westwood

“The professionals at Traditions improve the quality of lives. My patients are in great hands.”

Dr. Silver, formerly with Dana Farber Cancer Institute

“Everything has been working out extremely well with Traditions, thank you. It is great to know there is such a compassionate, expedient service out there. You came through in our toughest times with grace and dignity. Thank you so much for all of your help with my parents. We are now moving them to a nursing home. I know my Dad will especially miss his time with Amos. If you need any endorsement of Traditions Home Health Services in the future, please let me know, I’m happy to do so.”

Carolyn

“I have to say the personalized programs the caregivers and management have developed for my father were so unique and helped him to feel like he has a purpose again. Relatives and even doctors have noticed that he is more involved and able to participate in life again. Bravo. I have never seen this before with other agencies.”

Erin

“The team at Traditions is remarkable. I call Traditions with any questions I have, and they always manage to find a solution for us. My wife has progressive Alzheimer’s and with their interesting, personalized activities they brought for my wife, I am not only able to keep Irene at home, but I find I can leave for a while to take care of myself during the day. They are compassionate, patient and well trained. Thumbs up for me.”

Mark R.

“My father has progressed so well since his stroke. I am so thankful that Ann suggested a live-in to work with my dad consistently. He was so anxious and afraid of falling that he wouldn’t try to do any of the PT or even try the commode. I understand having a stroke and having left neglect is scary, but he is 66 and needed to try. The live-in caregiver Ron was amazing. He gently encourages my father to keep trying things. If my father says ‘no’, Ron insists. Yesterday, my dad actually walked the entire driveway! The part I am impressed with is the active involvement of the management team and the clinical doctor. They are actively involved in the care plan and it is quite impressive. I couldn’t recommend them any higher. They are the best.”

Sharon – From Somerville

“The caregivers that ‘Traditions Home Health Services’ sent were like angels. My father, who lived in an assistant living facility probably had less than two weeks to live when Traditions came to the rescue. He was so uncomfortable, and it was a holiday weekend when we started. The facility’s staff was light because of the holiday. It was snowing hard and the caregiver walked in with a smile and extra clothes just in case he had to stay over due to the weather. He was so in tune with trying to keep my father clean, comfortable and well medicated as necessary. He engaged in light conversation but also knew when my father didn’t want to talk at all. As a family we were thankful but thought this caregiver was an anomaly but then walked in the next one. She was compassionate and patient as the first one. Traditions does such a good job of training their people and choosing those who are truly compassionate. We were so fortunate to find them.”

Nancy G. Plymouth

“My father was home and was dying from stomach cancer. He didn’t want to go to a facility. We had hired Seasons Hospice to help care for him at home. He could no longer support himself upright but wanted to stay out of bed. They referred us to Traditions Home Health to supplement their care. It was amazing for us. The caregivers from Traditions came over each morning to help sponge bathe my father, feed him, dress him and help move him to a lounge chair. On occasion, the owner would come assist to make it easier to move my father. They were patient, understanding, knowledgeable and most important compassionate. We were lucky to have had them right up until the day my father passed away peacefully.”

Tom W. Waltham

“Traditions Home Health Service is run by a wonderful family. They are accessible 24/7 and that worked to our benefit. We have chosen to have them join us on several cases and we were confident they had the best interest of our clients in mind at all times. Our clients and their families raved about the caregivers. Not only did they focus on the well being of the patient, they made sure the family members were updated and felt secure in the service. The caregivers we met, were excellent and quite loving. We will be continuing with recommending this highly rated service to our clients.”

Creative Spirit

Pauline, a retired Ivy League professor of sculpture with advanced Parkinson’s Disease with diminished use of her hands, was consistently sad until she met Ann Breitner and her team. She missed teaching and creating sculptures. Ann went to the local toy store and got Pauline a child’s pottery wheel to “fiddle” with. The material was more like a playdough than a rigid clay. A week later, Pauline called and requested 10 more kits. The team thought she only needed more of the material, but no, Pauline had a surprise. She started a class in her assisted living residence and they began making beautiful candy dishes that they sell in the gift shop. Pauline now had purpose and something to look forward to. JOY!

Movie Buff

Jean, a paraplegic who has 24/7 care loves watching movies. When visiting, we noticed she watched the same movies every day. We found out she only had a few to watch over and over. We went to the local library and coordinated having movies delivered every week. Now she calls to tell us about the exciting new movies she’s watching! JOY!

Sunshine Smiles

When we first met Wes, he wouldn’t get out of bed. Confined to a wheelchair, he didn’t feel motivated any longer to enjoy life. We discovered that he had been an artist so we brought him painting materials. This worked for awhile, but as his health conditions changed and he could no longer paint, we found that all he wanted was to get outside in the fresh air and sunshine. It became part of his care plan to bundle him up and bring him outside every day. Now he looks forward to getting up, dressing and grooming in preparation for his day. JOY!
