Home Care Assessment

What Is the Home Care Safety Assessment?

A home care safety assessment presents critical information about how to best care for your aging parents in their home environment, identifying hazards and later determining if home care is needed. Home assessments are an important component of home care. They determine the degree of safety and comfort of seniors in their homes and evaluate the need for equipment and assistive devices. Our goal is to help seniors remain healthy at home and the best way to do that is to first ensure their safety.

As part of our services, we conduct a home care safety assessment. While no home can be 100% risk-free, this professional assessment helps seniors and their family members address major and minor areas of concern at home. During one of your first visits with our care team, we conduct a 43-point home assessment that analyzes each room in the house to identify potential hazards.

Traditions Home Health Services can provide families with a complimentary home care safety assessment in Milton, Boston, Hingham, Westwood, Cambridge, Newton, Barnstable, and other communities in Massachusetts.

Some Things to Consider

One third of all seniors in the US experience a fall each year, and the majority of these falls occur in their own home. To help seniors remain safe as they age in place, it’s important to address potential risks and hazards.

The bathroom is typically the most dangerous room in a senior’s home. Only 19% of homes have grab bars. Adaptable bathrooms can help seniors safely perform everyday actions, like showering or toileting.
